There’s something most CPA candidates don’t realize: Less than 60% of people pass any given section of the CPA exam, according to the AICPA.
Here’s the thing…

Best CPA Prep Courses of 2026
How we score: every course gets four ratings out of 5, for practice questions and simulations, lectures and teaching, study tools and support, and value for money. The overall rating is the average of the four, based on the course screens shown in each review and provider pricing checked this month.
1. Becker CPA Review Course: Best for Big 4 Backed Credibility

Best for structured study with Big 4 credibility
- Concierge program that gives world-class instruction and support
- Award-winning Adapt2U AI technology by Sana Labs
- Exam prep that closely mimics the CPA exam
- 9,500+ MCQs and 450+ TBS, with SkillMaster videos
- Flexible formats: self-study, live online and live in-person classes
- Newt™ AI exam review assistant
- No audio lectures, so commute time cannot double as lecture time
- Advantage starts at $2,499, about $500 above UWorld Premier
Pick Becker over UWorld if you want live classes and one-on-one tutoring; pick UWorld if engaging recorded lectures are what keep you studying.
Skip Becker if you need audio lessons for commuting or want the lowest price on this list.
Becker CPA Review is one of the most well-known companies for CPA exam candidates since it is sponsored by most accounting firms (including the Big 4) and universities. This was an issue for many students since they were slow to adapt when other courses changed their platforms and study materials. Fortunately, Becker has undergone several necessary changes over the last few years and is now the best CPA prep course currently available to students.
Becker is a trusted name in the industry and offers tons of benefits to justify students’ enrollment in their premium course tiers. Additionally, they’ve recently added flexibility for students on a tight budget, now, you can spread the cost with Flex Pay over six or twelve months, or up to two years on some packages.
What to Expect with the Becker CPA Exam Prep Course
The Becker CPA Review course has one of the largest databases of exam questions, more than 9,500 multiple-choice questions, 450+ task-based simulations, and simulated exams. That’s a lot to work with, but they also provide a Study Bank that ensures you don’t see the same recycled questions repeatedly.
These questions are also used on their mock exams, although the way they’re graded differs slightly from the actual CPA exams. They’re also more complex. This means that you’re likely to get a higher score on the actual exams than you will on Becker’s mock exams; students refer to this as the “Becker Bump.”
Becker also has live CPA exam classes, which is rare. There is a benefit of having a live classroom setting to gain an understanding of CPA knowledge. Still, the viability of the course is dependent on the quality of the instructor. Fortunately, Becker’s instructors are extremely qualified and garner lots of student praise!
Unfortunately, Becker doesn’t offer audio content in any of their packages. This can be a letdown if you like studying while exercising, commuting, or doing chores around the house. And while you may be able to work around this by listening to video lectures, it’s just not the same.
Who is Becker Best Suited For?
Becker’s CPA online courses are an excellent option if you don’t want to be bothered with deadlines and want to work at your own pace. They’re also a fantastic choice because of their high-quality, easy-to-use CPA Exam materials. Becker can also be a good option for those who want to invest in not just study materials but a team of experts who can assist before, during, and after licensure.
Unlike the Advantage and Premium Becker CPA Review programs, Becker’s Concierge, Pro+, and Pro packages give you access to a dedicated team of experts and your own success coach. They’ll also work with you to create a customized study plan for your needs. Plus, one-on-one tutoring and coaching sessions are included, so you can get the help you need to succeed.
As an added bonus, Becker Concierge includes a one-year CPE subscription and CPE certificate, which will keep you up-to-date with the latest changes in the field. And if somehow you’re not exam day ready, Becker promises to refund up to 100% of the Concierge CPA review purchase price.
Can’t afford Concierge? Pro is a reasonably priced recommendation that I highly recommend.
When I tested Becker’s FAR course, the unit page did the planning for me. Unit F5 lists every module with its video, MCQ and simulation counts, then closes with a practice test and flashcards. The simulations keep the exhibit and the worksheet side by side, so the diluted EPS task below felt like the real exam screen. Our full Becker CPA review walks through each package.

↗ EnlargeWhy Choose Becker?
The Becker CPA Review course has a solid curriculum, course materials, and instructors. If you’re a student who needs flexibility, as well as in-depth material, Becker’s online review course is the way to go, especially with Newt™ built in as an added layer of AI support. I liked that it gave me a way to get clarification while moving through the course, whether I was reviewing a concept, checking practice feedback, or trying to make sense of a tougher explanation. There are also several financing options available, so you can even afford to enroll if your budget is on the smaller side.

Extended Sale – $1,350 Off Becker CPA Concierge
Bottom Line: Becker’s CPA Review provides flexible, top-notch materials, especially with their “Concierge” program which offers personalized expert guidance and robust benefits like a CPE subscription and a refund guarantee. Given its quality and limited slots, it’s a valuable investment for your CPA journey, even on a tight budget.
2. Gleim CPA Review Courses: Best for Task-Based Simulations

Best for in-depth content and comprehensive practice
- Lots of package options

- Largest bank of MCQs and TBS (12,000+ and 1,200+)
- Access Until You Pass on Premium and Premium Pro
- Prep Pal™ AI assistant
- Support from personal counselors and accounting experts
- Online-only, with few downloadable materials for offline study
- 12,000+ MCQs and 1,200+ simulations means choosing what to skip
Pick Gleim over Becker if you learn by drilling and want Access Until You Pass on Premium; pick Becker if you need live classes and a structured plan.
Skip Gleim if you want short, polished lectures or a course you can study offline.
Gleim CPA Review courses offer comprehensive study materials that will take you through all the possible subjects that may show up on the CPA exam.
Gleim’s CPA study materials cover all exam topics you need to know. In addition, with their SmartAdapt technology, the software will guide you through the exam topics, focusing on your weak areas but still drilling you on topics you’ve shown mastery.
However, if you prefer a ton of information and want to enroll in a course that fully prepares you for exam day by leaving no stone unturned, then this could very well be the right study guide for you.
What to Expect with Gleim CPA Review Courses
With Gleim’s CPA prep courses, their SmartAdapt technology will guide you through every step of the course. This is beneficial when used in conjunction with their extensive study materials since it offers informed recommendations for each step of your CPA study schedule. Gleim includes a huge bank of MCQ tests, Final Exam Reviews, and Task-Based Simulations to give you lots of practice tests for the real exam. In total, the full Gleim review course includes over 12,000 multiple-choice questions and 1,200+ task-based simulations, which is significantly more than any other CPA review course.
Additionally, Gleim’s complete course includes an audio lesson for each section of the CPA exam. This 100+ hour library of extra content provides an excellent way to learn the material during non-traditional study times like commuting or exercising. They can easily be downloaded to your phone.
Much like their other CPA exam study materials, Gleim’s textbooks are detailed and use a significant amount of technical jargon. Although many students prefer a highly comprehensive course, you may feel overwhelmed by the information overload. And you’re free to take all the time you need to get through your exam review, thanks to their Access Until You Pass guarantee.
Who is Gleim CPA Review Best Suited For?
Gleim’s SmartAdapt technology will guide the candidate through the course content, continually focusing on their weak areas while still reviewing material where mastery is shown. So, if you are someone who struggles with knowing what to study and when to move on, Gleim CPA Review is the course for you, as it takes the guesswork out of what to do. Additionally, their interactive study planner will lay out course assignments in a calendar, so you know when course modules are due for completion.
When I tested Gleim’s REG course, the simulations looked like the exam. The adjusted gross income task below puts the question stem and a fill-in table on one screen. Gleim Instruct playlists follow each lecture with worked multiple-choice questions and a simulation walkthrough, which tied the video to the practice. Our full Gleim CPA review covers every package.
↗ EnlargeWhy Choose Gleim?
Gleim provides you with more than enough information and study material to pass the CPA exam. There is so much information provided here. The Premium Pro review course comes complete with the Gleim Instruct Video Series, access to accounting experts and a team of personal counselors for added guidance, private study groups, and an Access Until You Pass Guarantee. However, as stated earlier, that information can be to a fault, as it can be a bit overwhelming. If you want a study guide that will provide you with the most information about the exam, then you may want to give Gleim a try.

FAQs About Gleim CPA Review
Is there a guarantee for this review course?
With Gleim, you get an Access Until You Pass guarantee if you pick Premium Pro and Premium review options. This means that you’ll have full access to the entire course, without needing to buy an extension, until you pass the CPA exam.
What’s the difference between Traditional and Premium Gleim courses?
The Gleim Traditional CPA Review has many similar features to their Premium option. However, it gives you less student support and only 18 months of access. It doesn’t include videos or webinars either. The Premium review comes complete with the Gleim Instruct Video Series, access to Accounting Experts for added guidance, and an Access Until You Pass Guarantee. Premium Pro CPA review upgrades you with Gleim Webinars and the Gleim Sim Bank.
Bottom Line: If you’ve been out of the classroom for a while and want a personal counselor to help you throughout your studies, Gleim is a great option. Their SmartAdapt tech can guide you through the entire study schedule, and their Premium account will let you talk to Accounting Experts for even more help if you need it. However, if you’re looking for a simplified program or downloadable features, you might want to go with another course.
3. UWorld CPA Review Courses: Best for Engagement and Motivation

Best for engaging instruction that holds your attention
- Most engaging video lectures
- Excellent audio CPA review offered
- Spaced repetition, predictive technology and other memory-boosting strategies
- UAsk™ AI assistant
- Lengthy, detailed answer explanations
- 1,400+ video lectures is a lot to get through if you prefer reading
- The pass guarantee only comes with Elite-Unlimited+, the top tier
Pick UWorld over Gleim if short, energetic lectures keep you going; pick Gleim if you would rather grind through 12,000+ practice questions.
Skip UWorld if a long video library would overwhelm you and you mostly want to drill questions.
If you want a prep course that will keep you engaged with a combination of passionate instructors and powerful technology, then the UWorld CPA Review Course is the perfect course for you.
Are you bad at self-direction; do you need someone to keep you motivated while you study? Do you have trouble staying awake while working through CPA lectures, practice questions, and flashcards?
What to Expect With UWorld CPA Review Courses?
When you choose UWorld for your CPA review course, you can expect well over a thousand video lectures that run shorter and with more energy than the typical CPA lecture. Instructors like Peter Olinto, a former Becker national instructor, break difficult concepts into lessons that are easy to follow, and the mnemonics and memory tools built into the lectures make the tedious details easier to retain.
The lectures are backed by the most detailed answer explanations in this lineup: every practice question comes with a full rationale for the right and the wrong answers, and the UAsk AI assistant can rephrase a question or an explanation in plain language while you work through it.
Your UWorld CPA review course software will also come integrated with SmartPath Predictive Technology. This new feature provides you with recommendations on where and how to focus your efforts by comparing your progress and performance to those who have passed the CPA Exam. This efficient tool can cut your study time by hundreds of hours!
Additionally, you can get unlimited access to their online study materials through the Elite Unlimited and Elite Unlimited+ packages. No need to worry about your course expiring; you’ll have your study materials for as long as you desire! Plus, UWorld updates their materials quickly and frequently across all of their exam prep courses; I definitely felt more confident knowing, with 100% certainty, that all of the study materials were up-to-date.
Now, what about the financing options?
UWorld now offers financing plans if you’re a student on a budget, starting at a low three-figure monthly rate through Affirm. It’s worth reading the terms thoroughly before agreeing, but it can make a steep purchase feel lighter on your wallet while you handle the stress of studying for a massive four-part exam.
Who is UWorld CPA Review Best Suited For?
I would recommend this course to a CPA candidate who has a hard time focusing while studying. If you find yourself struggling to stay awake in some of your accounting lectures, then UWorld CPA Review will definitely keep you from falling asleep.
UWorld is also best suited for students who are auditory and visual learners. There’s an audio-only version of their engaging lecture content that can help you get even more studying in while doing chores or going for a jog.
When I tested UWorld’s AUD questions, the timer and testlet navigation matched the exam interface, so timing practice carried straight over. The UAsk assistant was the standout: asked to explain a long REG simulation, it broke the facts into short plain-English parts before I touched the worksheet. Our full UWorld CPA review covers every plan.

FAQs About UWorld CPA Review
How can I view the video lessons on my mobile devices?
You’ll have access to the lectures on your cellular phone, tablet, or mobile device. You’ll need to be connected to a strong internet connection due to the high quality and size of the videos.
What happens if I run into a question about my course, either the concepts or homework?
UWorld has a Study Hub to answer questions about the CPA exam. You will most likely find the answer in its large archive of questions asked by previous students, and moderators are available to help with conceptual issues or topical questions. This service is meant as supplemental support to the content covered in the lectures.
Bottom Line: UWorld CPA Review dazzles with its engaging video content and top-notch audio options, setting a benchmark for visual and auditory learners. However, the premium experience comes with a heftier price tag and lacks a final review, making it a high-quality yet selective choice for CPA aspirants.
4. Lambers CPA Review Course: Best Budget Pick for Retaking the CPA Exam

Best budget pick for CPA retakes or weak sections
- Affordable and flexible pricing structure
- Adaptive learning technology helps you eliminate knowledge gaps
- Recently updated with lots of exclusive content
- Best option for improving your score in a specific exam section
- 4,500+ questions and sims combined, about a third of Gleim’s bank
- No Pass No Pay only applies after two failed attempts
- No flashcards or mobile app
Pick Lambers over Gleim if you are retaking one section on a tight budget; pick Gleim if this is your first attempt and you need full lectures.
Skip Lambers on a first attempt if you need full video lectures, or if you study mainly on your phone, since there is no mobile app.
If you’ve already tried to pass the CPA exam and didn’t succeed, or you’re an industry vet looking to hone your test-taking skills, Lambers CPA Review is the course you need to know about.
What to Expect With Lambers CPA Review?
Did you have a lot of trouble passing one specific section of the exam? Maybe you didn’t earn a passing score on Auditing and Attestation (AUD); in this case, all you need is Lambers’ Enhanced Test Prep course.
Lambers’ packages are extremely affordable when compared to the other review courses here, so this provider is worth considering if you’re trying to stick to a budget for your prep tools.
Access all of your study materials entirely within your browser, no extra apps or textbooks are required. You can seamlessly jump into specific practice questions or task-based simulations when you’re ready to study!
While a focused test prep software without lectures or eBooks isn’t the right solution for everyone, Lambers makes a compelling argument for a few particular student types.
Who is Lambers Best Suited For?
There are three types of students who will get the most out of Lambers CPA review. The first is someone who already has a full review course like UWorld or Becker, but wants some extra help on a specific exam section.
The second type of ideal candidate is one who is on their second or third attempt at the exam, who needs to boost their score in one or two sections.
The third and final type has spent a lot of time in the industry; they know how it all works, and a complete course would feel like child’s play. But they haven’t gotten certified yet, and it’s the next step to level up their career.
When I tested Lambers on AUD, I set up the drill by AICPA blueprint objective, which is exactly how a retake should work: tick only the topics that cost you points. Each simulation in the list has its own question, answer and completion marker, so I could see what was left at a glance.
↗ EnlargeWhy Choose Lambers?
Lambers is a good choice if you want to focus on practice, whether you want supplemental MCQs or just need a refresher.
It’s not as comprehensive as something like Gleim or Becker, but it’s laser-focused to save you time, drill into your weakest content areas, and help you get that passing score.

Exclusive Offer – 30% Off Lambers CPA Course Package
FAQs About Lambers CPA Review
Does Lambers CPA Review offer a pass guarantee?
Although Lambers does offer a guarantee, it’s slightly different than many other companies’ pass guarantees. You’ll need to fail the exam twice before qualifying for a refund.
Does Lambers CPA Review have a free trial or demo?
Unfortunately, Lambers currently doesn’t provide any free trial or demo for their CPA review courses. However, you can see many screenshots and testimonials on their website to learn more about their catalog.
Bottom Line: If you’re looking for some help on a specific exam section or want supplemental MCQs for extra practice, Lambers CPA Review is an affordable choice. Keep in mind, this isn’t a course for those who want video lectures, a mobile app, flashcards, or lots of comprehensive mock exams. However, for seasoned accountants, supplement-seekers, and retakers, Lambers is a smart investment.

Every number below comes from the provider pages, checked this month. Tick two or more courses in the grid at the top of the page and the chart narrows to just those.

What’s New for 2026 CPA Courses
The CPA Evolution exam model has been in place since January 2024: every candidate sits the three core sections (AUD, FAR and REG) plus one discipline (BAR, ISC or TCP). All four courses here have rebuilt their content around that structure, so the differences now come down to how well each one teaches the discipline sections, how quickly it updates for blueprint changes, and how much AI help it layers on top. Becker (Newt), Gleim (Prep Pal) and UWorld (UAsk) all added an AI assistant this cycle, and Becker now shows a blueprint report that maps your performance to the AICPA skill levels.
Which CPA Prep Course Has the Most Practice Questions?
Multiple-choice questions are the bulk of any CPA review course, as these mirror the exam content and are the best way to practice for the CPA exam.
The number of MCQs isn’t always the most important quality for these questions. You must also note that some questions are harder and more like the actual test than others.
So, who has the most?
Gleim has the most amount of questions. They offer the highest volume of content by far, so you’ll want to try their course if this is the most important feature for you.
Becker, however, has the most adaptive multiple-choice questions that are specific to your level of knowledge, helping you prepare for the test.
CPA Courses With the Most Multiple-Choice Practice Questions (MCQs)
| Course | Multiple-choice questions | Simulations |
|---|---|---|
Gleim |
12,000+ | 1,200+ TBS |
Becker |
9,500+ | 450+ TBS |
UWorld |
9,000+ | 500+ TBS |
Lambers |
4,500+ (MCQs and sims combined) | Included |
Bottom Line: Gleim CPA Review provides more multiple-choice questions than any other course here, so you are not going to run out of practice questions.
Which CPA Prep Course Has the Most Task-Based Simulations?
Task-based simulations have become increasingly important since the changes made to the CPA Exam a few years ago. Because of this new test that places more importance on realistic exam simulations, CPA review courses now place more emphasis on these questions, ensuring you can pass after practicing the TBS section.
So, who is the best when it comes to TBS’s?
Gleim publishes the largest simulation bank, and Becker pairs its 450+ TBS with SkillMaster solution videos that walk through the answer, which is why Becker still wins on instruction even though Gleim wins on count.
Most CPA Exam Task-Based Simulations (TBS) by Course
| Course | Task-based simulations | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Gleim |
1,200+ | Sims by topic, full Simulation Bank on Premium Pro |
UWorld |
500+ | Mapped to the current blueprints |
Becker |
450+ | 8 simulated exams plus 12 mini exams |
Lambers |
Included | Count not published |
Bottom Line: Gleim has the most simulations, but Becker CPA Review has the best TBS instruction thanks to its solution videos.
Which CPA Courses Offer Discounts and Financing Options?
Why would you pay full price for a CPA review course when there are tons of great CPA discount codes available?! Save hundreds of dollars on all the most popular prep courses with these great CPA promo codes.
But what if you can’t afford a pricey CPA review course?
Becker offers discounts and Flex Pay plans that spread the price over 6 or 12 months on every package, or 24 months on Advantage and Premium.
Best CPA Review Course Financing and Discount Offers (Comparison)
| Course | Starting price | Payment plans | Discount code |
|---|---|---|---|

Gleim |

FAQs
Which CPA Review course is best?
Although there are really 3-4 different factors to consider here (see our full review), our top-rated course is Becker CPA Review. They offer an extremely dense library of study materials that includes 9,500+ multiple-choice questions, hundreds of instructional videos, and two mobile apps.
Which section of the CPA exam should I take first?
Your first CPA exam section should be the one that you feel most confident about passing. You’ve got to hit the ground running!
Which CPA exam is the hardest?
Strictly by the passing results, FAR is the most difficult. In recent score releases the Financial Accounting and Reporting section has posted the lowest pass rate of the core sections. Comparatively, the other core sections have a higher pass percentage, and the AICPA publishes updated rates after each score release. But you can’t say which CPA exam is the hardest based only on the pass rate. In reality, the most difficult section is the one that you haven’t prepared for adequately.
Why should I become a CPA?
The benefits of being a CPA can be tangible and intangible. With the designation next to your name, you get a better career trajectory, a higher salary, respect from similarly accredited peers, and even the potential to secure corner office positions. Over the course of their careers, Certified Public Accountants make $1 million more than their non-certified counterparts. The C-Suite is more likely to be made up of people who are CPAs than those who lack the title, executive search firm Spencer Stuart noted roughly 45 percent of CFOs have a CPA.
What are the CPA Exam Requirements by State?
The requirements to sit for the CPA exam aren’t especially varied from state to state, but there are definitely some outliers. Understanding these CPA exam requirements is important, however, as the first step to becoming a CPA is being able to sit for the exam. For the most part, you’re going to need 150 credit hours of accounting education, along with some work experience. There’s definitely more to the requirements than just 150 credit hours, but you’re going to have that as a basic educational foundation to sit for the exam.
How do people stay motivated after failing a CPA exam section?
Finding the motivation to carry on with studying after a failed test is absolutely heartbreaking for many people. However, if you can make the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel a tangible goal or event, it will alleviate the pains that come with the process of starting over. Many people fail at least one section, so it’s certainly possible to keep studying if you know WHY you’re taking the test. Failing a section also doesn’t mean you’re not meant to become a CPA, many people who occupy corner offices of Fortune 500 companies have failed one section of their exams. The important thing with regard to failing is to make sure you don’t make the same mistake twice.
How do I recognize my “learning style”?
Knowing your learning style is the secret to cutting hours and hours off of your studying time. Once you know what works with regard to specific types of prep tools, videos, audio content, or practicing by doing CPA test banks or books, the whole process becomes easier, and each minute of studying becomes more valuable. If you’re wondering what your learning style is, I recommend you check out the above post and determine exactly how you process and consume information. Not knowing how you learn most efficiently before you invest in a CPA review course is basically burning money!
Does Becker offer live classes?
Yes! For students who prefer working with an instructor who lectures in real time, Becker’s LiveOnline courses are the perfect choice. Students can ask questions and receive responses from their teachers in real time: something that isn’t provided in any of their other CPA courses.
What are the different testing windows for the CPA exam?
The CPA Exam no longer runs on the old quarterly testing windows. The core sections (AUD, FAR and REG) are offered year round through continuous testing, while the discipline sections (BAR, ISC and TCP) have been offered in set testing periods each quarter since CPA Evolution launched, and those dates shift from year to year. Check the current schedule with NASBA before you book, plan your sections around the score release calendar, and you can knock out the CPA in about a year.
How do I create a study schedule?
In order to create a successful CPA exam study schedule, you need to make an honest assessment of how many hours you can devote per week. If you’re working full-time, you’re going to want to study a certain amount per day, with your longer sessions on the weekend. If you’re not working, you can devote larger chunks of time per day, the key is to keep a consistent level of studying, as you don’t want to do too much on one day and none on another. Knowing how to study for the CPA exam will be the difference between passing and failing each individual section.
What CPA review course has been around the longest?
Lambers CPA Review has been helping candidates prepare for the CPA exam since 1966, making it one of the oldest CPA prep providers still in operation. Its classic, no-frills approach appeals to traditional learners and retakers who prefer focused, section-specific study materials.
What are some good free CPA exam resources?
The AICPA provides free resources for CPA candidates, including exam blueprints, sample tests, and information on the exam structure. These tools are ideal for understanding what to expect on test day and how the content is weighted.
What subscription packages does Becker CPA Review offer?
Becker offers five packages: Advantage, Premium, Pro, Pro+ and Concierge. All include CPA Evolution-ready content, Adapt2U technology and the Newt™ AI assistant. Premium adds unlimited access, Pro and Pro+ add tutoring, live classes and a Final Review, and Concierge adds coaching sessions, licensing help and a money-back pass guarantee.
What are the different Gleim CPA Review course options?
Gleim offers three tiers: Traditional, Premium, and Premium Pro. All include SmartAdapt™ tech and full exam coverage. Premium adds video lectures, expert support, and access until you pass. Premium Pro builds on that with live webinars and the full Simulation Bank for extra practice.

I disagree, Becker may have Big 4 credibility but is it really the best?
